The more I teach yoga, the more I learn

I am very blessed.
I am grateful for my blessings.
I appreciate each blessing that comes to me.

And so this is how I’m kicking off my first gratitude post of March 2018.

Because each time I tell the universe that I will focus on driving my yoga teaching forward, it responds with a resounding ‘Yes!’.

By sending more classes my way.
By sending more students my way.
By sending more teachers my way.
By sending more support my way.

I am learning to trust in the creation progress, by just leaving it to the universe to manifest my reality. And thus, it has been a joyous ride.

I find great joy, peace, and contentment in teaching yoga. For the more that I teach, the more I learn.

I learn from my students, I learn about them, and my intuition about their bodies or activities increases.

I learn how to explain and demo with more clarity.

I learn what I am comfortable with teaching and how I teach it.

I learn that I don’t know enough, and there’s more to learn so that I can teach more.

I learn that where I am is also good enough.

At the moment, I teach at Instiinct Studios a foundational Gentle Flow class, a Yoga Basic class, and a YIN Yoga active stretch class.

My favourite is the Gentle Flow class. This is where I can get students to spend time in adjusting their downward dog, standing forward fold, warrior two, low and high lunge, and even corpse pose.

This is because I feel that correct alignment, muscle activation, weight distribution, and even breath awareness are essential for yoga.

Even though I can teach a power vinyasa flow class, the Gentle Flow is my favourite way of igniting the joy of yoga in students. It brings much satisfaction to see their eyes and brains when a pose suddenly clicks after I’ve explained it to them.

Outside of the studio, I teach a beginner Hatha class to a group of pre-school teachers. Again, it excites me to see them turn up for class in the middle of their busy day & taking the class seriously.

The energy that each student brings to class is so infectious & so soothing. Plus, the more I teach, the more I wish to teach.

It is seven more days to go, to reach the two-month mark since I started teaching yoga classes regularly. It’s hard to believe that I’ve only just begun!

The last two weeks have been wonderful in my world of yoga teaching. The next few weeks looks to be even more exciting. I am ready for it!
